Firearms payment processing
A firearms merchant account, set up by someone who knows the paperwork.
A firearms merchant account from Moneybox covers gun stores, online and GunBroker sellers, ammo and accessory shops, NFA/SOT dealers and ranges. We put together a complete FFL underwriting packet, code your account correctly for the states you sell into, and get you paid the next business day. When you call, a real person on our team answers.
No cost to review. You get the dollar difference in writing — or we tell you if switching wouldn’t help.
Underwritten properly once for firearms · Next-day funding · Talk to a real person: [direct line]
One firearms merchant account
Counter, online, GunBroker and gun-show sales underwritten on a single firearms merchant account, with big tickets approved up front.
The paperwork, checked
We assemble your FFL packet and confirm MCC coding for the states you sell into before it reaches underwriting.
A real person answers
When you call, a real person on our team picks up and, if a deposit is ever held, works it with the processor.
More options than there used to be
More options than there used to be. Fewer that know this business.
A few years ago, almost every payment app turned gun businesses away. That is changing. Stripe now lists legal firearms as restricted, which means case-by-case approval, and Stripe says that approval can be modified or revoked at any time. Square, PayPal and Shopify Payments still prohibit firearms. A firearms merchant account with a processor that actually knows the industry is a different thing from an app that tolerates you until it doesn’t. See the comparison below.
Getting approved somewhere is only the first step. What matters is whether your account is set up correctly for how you sell: in-store, online, at gun shows, through GunBroker, with NFA items, or shipping ammo. Getting any of those wrong is how gun businesses end up with held deposits or closed accounts. That is the part we focus on, and building the account around how you really sell is what makes a surprise review less likely later.
What we handle for you
Your firearms merchant account, checked before it goes to underwriting.
- A complete FFL underwriting packet. FFL copy, SOT status if you deal NFA, your compliance memo, website policies, age gate and product mix — assembled and checked before submission. See the packet checklist →
- Correct MCC coding across states. California, Colorado and New York require the firearms merchant category code (MCC 5723) for qualifying retailers. Around 20 states, including Texas and Florida, prohibit firearms-specific codes. If you sell into several states, we confirm your coding with the processor. As of October 2026. Read the MCC 5723 state guide →
- GunBroker and online checkout. GunBroker does not process payments for you — you need your own merchant account and gateway. We set both up and connect them. Gateway: [gateway names, e.g. Authorize.net / NMI]. Online & GunBroker setup →
- Gun shows and mobile. A card reader or mobile setup that works away from the counter, on the same account. Device options: [device options & cost].
- Big tickets, approved up front. If you sell $3,000 rifles or $1,200 suppressors, your approved high ticket says so, so a large sale matches what underwriting expects.
- Next-day funding. Batches closed by [cutoff time] are deposited the next business day, with [confirm: no added fee]. How funding works →
- Plain pricing. Interchange plus a stated markup of [your rate % + ¢] card-present and [your rate % + ¢] online. Every fee is listed. See pricing →
- A person who picks up. Our team builds your firearms merchant account file and talks to underwriting, and we are who you call later.

Firearms processing questions
Do you process for gun stores and online firearm sellers?
Yes: FFL retail stores, online sellers that ship to FFLs, GunBroker sellers, ammo and accessory retailers, NFA/SOT dealers and ranges. Excluded products: [any excluded products, e.g. 80% lowers, solvent traps].
Stripe accepts firearms now. Why would I use you?
Stripe lists firearms as restricted. You may be approved after extra review, and Stripe says that approval can be modified or revoked. With us you get a firearms merchant account underwritten up front for your actual products and tickets, next-day funding, MCC coding checked for your states, and a person who handles problems directly. Stripe’s current policy is worth re-reading before you decide.
What is MCC 5723 and does it affect me?
It is the merchant category code for firearms retailers. Some states (CA, CO, NY) require it for qualifying sellers, and others (including TX and FL) prohibit firearms-specific codes. Which applies depends on where you are located and where you sell. We confirm your coding with the processor before you go live. Read the state guide →
Will I have a reserve?
It depends on your history and how you sell. Established storefronts often do not. New businesses, online-heavy sellers and NFA dealers sometimes do. If a reserve is required, you will know the percentage and the release schedule before you sign. Typical reserve terms: [reserve terms].
How long does approval take?
For a complete firearms merchant account packet, typically [approval timeline]. Most delays come from missing documents or details that do not match, and that is what the pre-check catches.
Which gateway do you use for online sales?
Your online checkout and GunBroker sales run through a gateway on your merchant account: [gateway names]. We set it up and connect it to your store or listings. See online setup →
